Background microbiology, background chemistry, examination of water and waste water; water pollution - sources, types, nature, goals, criteria, standards; water sampling, design of sampling programs, instrumentation, sampling procedures. Water supply and sewerage: water quality, quantity and distribution; water treatment processes, sewage quantity and quality; waste-water collection; sewage treatment. Air pollution: sources and types; episodes, health and environment; meteorological aspects; legislation, air pollution control.

Assessment

Examinations (3 hours): 80% * Practical work: 15% * Laboratory work: 5%
