Analysis of structures

Analysis of framed structures by the stiffness method. Direct stiffness method. Use of displacement transformation matrix. Derivation of element and structure stiffness. Derivation of load vectors. Master/slave degrees of freedom. Solution techniques. Single degree-of-freedom systems subjected to free or forced vibrations, or impulse loading. Evaluation of damping; Duhamel integral; vibration frequencies and modes; eigenvalues and eigenvectors; lumped mass representation, free vibration of multi degree-of-freedom systems.

Assessment

Examination (3 hours): 75% * Laboratory and assignments: 25%
