Design of structures

A Holgate

4 points * 26 tutorials * Second semester * Clayton * Prerequisites: CIV1210

General: structural systems and loads; limit-state design philosophy. Steel: tension members; laterally supported beams; axially-loaded columns; connections. Reinforced concrete: properties of concrete and reinforcement; service load behaviour; ultimate flexural strength of rectangular beams, tee beams, and slabs.

Assessment

Examinations (3 hours): 80% * Practical work: 20%
