Stress analysis I

Elementary stress analysis, normal and shear stress, stress and strain at a point, Mohr's circle; introduction to strain gauges; Hooke's law, general theory of elasticity, superposition and Saint Venant's principle, failure theories; introduction to problems dealing with uniaxial, flexure, shear and combined bending stresses.

Assessment

Examinations (2.5 hours): 75% * Practical work/Laboratory work: 25%
