Chemical engineering practice III
3 points * 48 laboratory hours * First semester * Clayton * Prerequisites: CHE2100, CHE2111, CHE2140, CHE2150, CHE2160, MAT2930
Objectives The student is expected to develop a deeper understanding of the phenomena and principles covered in lectures through participating in practical demonstrations; an understanding of the operation of the process equipment and instrumentation. The student is expected to develop skills in the ability to plan and manage experiments; technical report writing; research and self learning; computer programming. The student is expected to develop an interest in experimentation and a commitment to safe practices.
Synopsis This subject involves laboratory classes and problem solving using computers. It covers various aspects of chemical engineering principles and unit operations. Computer packages such as ASPEN, PROCESS, PRO/II and HYSIM will be used in process simulation.
