Analysis of chemical processing systems II

3 points * 18 lectures, 6 tutorials * Second semester * Clayton * Prerequisites: CHE2110

Objectives The student is expected to acquire a knowledge and understanding of the basic concepts of mass transfer including the mass transfer coefficient and the equilibrium stage. The student is expected to develop skills in the application of this knowledge to the design of some unit operations involving mass transfer. The student is expected to acquire a further knowledge of the concepts of heat transfer including coefficients; mechanisms and analogies.

Synopsis Mass transfer - coefficients, equilibrium stage; analytical and graphical solutions for selected unit operations. Heat transfer - coefficients, mechanisms, analogies; analysis for jacketed vessel, double-pipe and shell-and-tube heat exchangers.
