This subject will examine the application of instructional design approaches and methods to the development of learning systems and materials. An open learning approach to education and training embraces the ideas of flexibility in modes of study, management of study and in the application of technology based instructional mechanisms. The subject will focus on issues in design and open learning which relate to the application of information, communication and presentation technologies and packages. The subject will concentrate on systems approaches and adult learning. It will therefore be of particular relevance to people engaged in the development of education and training programs.
