Institutional management in higher education
Professor D N Aspin
Second semester * Clayton
This subject is concerned with the theoretical underpinnings of policy, planning and management in tertiary institutions - universities, colleges and TAFE - and with showing how these relate to the micro-level of individual institutions. The program will attempt to locate recent developments within the philosophical framework of different conceptions of the nature, role and function of higher education institutions in the modern community, but will concentrate on the application of research and development in higher education to improvements in the management of individual tertiary institutions.
