Communicative language teaching

This subject is designed for teachers of English to speakers of other languages and for teachers of languages other than English who are interested in the communicative approach to language teaching. It will focus firstly on the development of the notion of communicative competence, and secondly on implications of the notion for language teaching methodology. The subject further explores aspects of language teaching and assessment introduced in GED3823 (Theory and practice of TESOL) and GED3833 (Theory and practice of SLE).
