This subject is concerned with the management of human, financial and capital resource management in education. The subject is divided into two sections. The first section focuses on human resource management and covers key topics such as (1) ways of thinking about individuals and groups in organisations; (2) pressures and dilemmas for individuals and groups operating in organisations and educational systems; (3) the politicisation of work and human relationships and the demands of psycho-politics; (4) staff selection, appraisal and development; (5) the development of cooperation and teamwork; (6) international responses to issues associated with the management of human resources in education. The second section of the course relates to financial and capital resource management and will cover key topics such as (1) budgeting in non-profit organisations; (2) principles of financial management; (3) the impact of changing political and organisational ideologies; (4) managing the capital stock; (5) a comparative study of financial and capital management practice in Australia and overseas.
