Asian studies in education

This subject focuses upon what is involved in teaching about Asia in Australia. Considered are the nature of the subject, the rationale for Asian studies, how attention to a range of disciplines can enrich and extend current approaches, and what is involved in curriculum development and related creation of curriculum materials for primary and secondary schools as well as for adult education. In seminars, participants are invited to draw upon and exchange insights from the disciplines and contexts with which they are most familiar. The goal is to create effective descriptions and processes that will enhance the teaching of Asian studies in Australia. This subject is part of the MEdSt program in Asian studies.
