This subject focuses on the education of students with special needs in segregated and integrated settings. Topics covered will include the origins and scope of special education, basic concepts and definitions, the educational consequences of individual differences, curriculum planning and innovations, instructional planning and arrangement and the delivery of special services. Opportunities will be provided for in-depth study of selected topics. Students will be required to read widely and to participate in regular lecture-discussions and practical sessions.
