This subject examines several areas of psychological research, with specific reference to crosscultural literature. Crosscultural research is discussed with a view to determining the universality of principles and theories of human development and behaviour. Specific topics covered include socialisation and child-rearing practices; attitudes, beliefs and values; cognitive and language development; education, teaching and learning styles. Students will be expected to give one half-hour presentation, submit a major essay and undertake a short-answer test. References will be provided throughout the semester.
