An introduction to the variations in children's behaviour and problems arising. Sources of variation in behaviour. Introduction to the concepts of helping and human relationships for professional staff working with children in a variety of settings. Outline of selected methods of behavioural change, personal development and pastoral care. Helping relationships in the classroom and other settings. Application of concepts of helping to the issue of integration of children with disabilities in regular settings. Students will be expected to participate in regular lectures and discussions as well as individually negotiated practical work.
