The subject examines the school library both as a complex system and as an organisation. Topics covered include the organisation of school libraries and information services in relation to other organisations; the preparation of estimates and budget control; the principles of personnel management in relation to school libraries; the development of architectural briefs for the design of school library facilities; the aquisition and control of curriculum resources; the evaluation of a school library's educational effectiveness; the maintenance of statistics and the preparation of reports concerning the development of library services; the planning and implementation of services, promotions and innovations. The subject is taught by lectures, workshops, case studies, study guides, teaching notes and individual research.
