Foundations of school librarianship

This subject aims to develop an awareness of the historical development of various types of libraries and information agencies, and especially school libraries. Topics covered include the roles and functions of school libraries and other information agencies; the relationships between school libraries and other information agencies; the types of services offered by library and information agencies with emphasis on services offered by school libraries; the social, technological and educational trends in relation to the development of school libraries and the roles of teacher-librarians; the roles of library associations.
