Curriculum studies: science and technology secondary II

Students will become familiar with the requirements of teaching science and technology to Year 11 and Year 12 pupils so they are able to prepare effective curriculum materials and units of work in their chosen specialist area. Topics such as evaluation of courses and curriculum materials, methods of pupil assessment, use of demonstrations and laboratory work and the utilisation of educational technology will be examined. Students will be alerted to the problems and possibilities of science and technology teaching. Students will be encouraged to reflect upon their personal experiences and strategies in learning science and technology. The subject is taught by study guides and selected and recommended readings.

Assessment

Students will develop two units of work applicable to senior school science and technology pupils in their discipline: 70% * Project: 30%
