Curriculum studies: advanced teaching studies physical education P-12

Subject value 1.0 * Second semester * Gippsland/Distance * Prerequisites: DipT or GradDipEd or BTeach

The subject will involve the design, implementation and evaluation of a teaching subject in physical education from one of the areas listed below. The development of the subject will be introduced and supported by lectures covering areas such as current issues, fitness, major games, gymnastics, dance, swimming and athletics. Students will be expected to choose one area in which to research and develop a detailed program suitable for use in schools. The program will take the form of a curriculum project and a project application report which will take into account project design, curriculum design and evaluation. It is anticipated that most students will already have been in schools where they can trial their ideas (special provision will be negotiated where applicable). The subject is taught by lectures, workshops and consultation with adviser.

Assessment

Assignment 1: 30% * Assignment 2: 40% * Literature review: 30%
