The teacher

Second semester * Peninsula

This subject aims through the concepts, skills and values encountered throughout the course, to have the students focus their attention on key personal and administrative issues and needs relevant to the teacher working as a professional; to induct the students into the teaching profession. Upon completion of this subject, students should have developed an understanding of policy, curriculum and program planning and development procedures; an understanding of the processes of analysis, diagnosis, assessment and evaluation as required by classroom teachers working in both the classroom and the school domain; a knowledge of the professional and legal rights and responsibilities of teachers, children and parents; an understanding of the need for sound parent-teacher relationships; a knowledge of matters pertaining to the seeking and gaining of employment in government and non-government schools; a commitment to the need for continuing professional growth; an awareness of critical issues in teacher welfare.
