Teaching in schools

First semester * Peninsula

This subject considers the school in our society, the role and responsibilities of the teacher, key curriculum concepts and significant educational issues within Australia. After completing this unit, students should have developed an understanding of Australian schools and of the purpose and operation of the primary school in Victoria; developed an awareness of some critical issues in Australian education systems; considered key concepts regarding the curriculum and its implementation; looked carefully at the many roles and responsibilities of teachers; considered classroom management and the organisational needs of teachers and schools; studied various elements of basic instructional design, lesson preparation and lesson implementation.
