LOTE methodology and practice

3 hours per week * Second semester * Peninsula * Prerequisites: EDN1795, EDN2795, EDN3005 or permission of lecturer

The subject enables students to develop specific strategies for teaching a LOTE, including ways of developing learners' literacy and oracy skills, integrating the development of linguistics and sociocultural knowledge, monitoring learners' progress and performance, selecting and adapting materials and designing units of work. Current issues in LOTE education will be discussed. Examples of issues include content-based teaching, distance education, and the articulation between primary and secondary school LOTE programs.
