An investigation of the application of curriculum and child development theory to the design, implementation and evaluation of developmentally appropriate programs for children's services. Topics will include the role of child observation; making programs responsive to the needs of babies, toddlers, special needs children and children over the age of five; the role of parents and the community in program design; the role of a nurturing and responsive environment in quality children's services; the utilisation of routines and transitions to enhance children's development; the gender inclusive curriculum; cultural/racial equality and the incorporation of language, mathematics, science, technology and the expressive arts within children's services programs.
