Language education 4: issues in language education

3 hours per week * Second semester * Peninsula * Prerequisites: EDN1795, EDN2795, EDN3005

This subject is viewed as the culmination of the four-semester sequence in language education. It utilises students' experiences in education and other sociocultural settings as a basis for the examination of current issues in language education. Examples of issues include parental involvement in children's oracy and literacy; the social construction of language and its implications for the language curriculum; teaching children with specific language needs; translating government language policies into classroom practice; and assessment and evaluation in language education. The actual issues selected for study may vary from year to year.
