Studio arts B: painting/printmaking 5
3 hours per week * First semester * Peninsula * 25 Prerequisites: EDN2645 and EDN2655
This subject is designed to provide students with practical skills for the general classroom and art specialisation at the primary level. The introduction of individual coursework, with demonstration and tuition by the lecturer-in-charge, in the technical area chosen by each student. Students will be required to independently investigate a personal theme using any one or a combination of the materials and processes introduced in this unit and the previous units. The following processes appropriate for application in the classroom will be investigated: mixed media works, elimination blockprinting and multicolour screenprinting on paper. Students will be expected to continue to develop drawing and design skills, including computer skills which specifically relate to general classroom and art specialist teaching. The subject will include the critical analysis of art education theory and painting/printmaking practice through lectures, excursions to galleries, schools and regional centres, leading to the development of a specialist art curriculum for primary schools.
