The human machine: movement. Limb and joint structure. Skeletal muscle structure. Nature of muscle contractions. Control of muscle function. Muscle metabolism. Aerobic and anaerobic processes. Exercise. Heat production. Muscle fatigue. Oxygen debt. Muscle structure differences between individuals. Cardiovascular responses to exercise. Regulation of blood pressure. Regulation of blood flow to different body tissues. Respiratory responses to exercise. Body composition and physical fitness. Muscle injury, repair and regeneration. Soft connective tissue damage and repair. Bone damage and repair.

Assessment

Written: 30% * Examinations: 70%
