Studies in teaching 4 (early childhood)

2 hours per week * Second semester * Peninsula

The subject continues from EDN2115 with the theme of teaching skills and pupil learning. Strand `A' will provide students with the opportunity to engage in initial primary teaching experiences in the middle and senior levels of the primary school and to acquire basic primary teaching competencies such as introducing and closing lessons, sequencing instruction and evaluating lesson outcomes. Strand `B' will provide students with the opportunity to practise (in a microteaching setting) basic teaching skills and examine issues affecting teacher/pupil welfare such as teacher stress and the implementation of strategies for preventing child abuse and neglect.

Assessment

Examinations: 50% * Practical work/practice teaching: 50%
