Teaching studies 1 (primary)
2 hours per week * First semester * Peninsula/practicum days in primary school
This subject consists of two complementary strands. Strand `A' introduces students to basic teaching skills and allows for examination and discussion of a simple teaching model and fundamental teaching strategies. This strand, which aims to give students the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the structure and function of the primary school and to have experience in basic lesson planning, is both an on-campus and school-based program (with several sessions taking place within the environment of nearby primary schools). Strand `B' is also an on-campus and school-based program which provides students with the opportunity to examine fundamental curriculum and related organisational matters.
Assessment
Examinations (Strand A): 40% * Examination, reading and research program (Strand B): 60%
