Advanced topics in managerial computing

This subject will address several current topics in managerial computing in depth. The subject matter will reflect contemporary developments and research, so the syllabus will vary to reflect these changes. The main themes in 1995 will be developments in managerial support tools and the strategic impact of managerial computing. Specific topics may include computer support for creative processes and `right-brained DSS'; research on managerial information seeking, and the implications for managerial support tools; models of human information processing and their impact for designing systems for managers; technological developments and their impact of managerial computing; the effect of managerial computing systems on organisational power relationships and communication patterns; performance indicators and their development, measurement and communication; the role of computing in reinforcing and changing corporate behaviour, attitudes and direction; the concept of `organisational memory' and the role of managerial computing in preserving it and making it accessible.
