Advanced topics in artificial intelligence

I Jagielska

6 points * Second semester * Caulfield

The syllabus will vary from time to time, depending on current developments in artificial intelligence. The theme in 1995 will be the application of soft computing methods in business and industry. Soft computing is an emerging new discipline. It attempts to address the need for a computational paradigm that can capture the inherent uncertainties in real-life problems. Soft computing recognises that no single method is suitable for all computational problems. It combines, among other neural networks, fuzzy logic and genetic algorithms. The subject is concerned with the theory and applications of soft computing methods.
