Decision support systems

This subject provides the student with a detailed understanding of the theoretical underpinnings to computer-based decision support. In particular the following topics will be covered in lectures: historical trends in DSS development, normative and descriptive theories of managerial behaviour and their implications for DSS, empirical research into the nature of management and decision making, a critical evaluation of development methodologies used in DSS, design principles for developing DSS, analysis and design techniques used in DSS development, cognitive aspects of decision making and their implications for DSS development.

Assessment

Written (3000 words): 50% * Unit test: 50%
