Organisational issues in information systems

The subject deals with information technology (IT) in its organisational context. In particular it examines how this context influences the application of IT while at the same time IT influences the organisation. An understanding of this interaction requires the study of both organisations and IT from many perspectives. The course covers issues such as the nature of organisations, design of organisations, organisational culture, symbols and power structures, job design, the IT function in organisations, the impact of different systems development methods, evaluation of IT, professionalism and IT practice, values and ethics.

Examinations: 50% * Practical work: 50%
