Selection methodologies and evaluation of software engineering tools. Computer-aided software engineering (CASE) and its aims, advantages, problems and key elements. The classification of tools and the structure of a CASE environment. Productivity and quality improvement with tools. The integration of tools in a software engineering environment and the object-management system with its elements, relationships and advantages. The functional aspects of programming environments and the available tools. Other software engineering tools. Software factories including the Japanese model, the European model and others including the US and CIS.
