Bachelor of Computer Science and Engineering

Clayton campus

The Bachelor of Computer Science and Engineering degree involves four years full-time study of subjects taught by the departments of Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering. To enter the course a student requires a grade D or higher in two branches of mathematics, English, and physics.

The course is intended for students who wish to study computing in depth from the point of view of both hardware and software. While it is the recommended course for those with interests in both computers and electrical and computer systems engineering, a limited number of students with similar interests are admitted to the five-year combined BSc/BE degree course.

This course is administered jointly by the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology and the Faculty of Engineering. Enrolments and course changes are administered by the Faculty of Engineering office at the Clayton campus.

Graduates are eligible for membership of the Australian Computer Society and are expected to be eligible for membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia.

An outline of the course structure and content is set out in schedule 1 to the BCSE regulations in the Faculty of Engineering handbook.
