Summary of undergraduate studies
Bachelor of Computing (Honours)
The Bachelor of Computing (Honours) is available to the Bachelor of
Computing students with the highest grades in computing. The honours course is
available for studies in applications development, business systems, computer
science, computer technology, computing, digital systems, information systems,
software development or system development. The honours course is available to
those who have a credit average in all third-year subjects, or a total value of
at least twenty-four points in third-year subjects as well as the
recommendation of the relevant head of department.
Honours shall normally be completed in one year of full-time study or two years
of part-time study.
The program of study consists of one subject enrolment: BUS4000, CFR4000,
COT4000, CSC4000, GCO4000, SFT4000 or SYS4000. Each subject is detailed later
in this handbook. Generally, a candidate for the honours degree shall study an
elective group of advanced computing subjects or units, and prepare a thesis.
The grade of honours will be Class I (HI), Class II (HIIA or HIIB), Class III
(HIII) or NN. The grade is determined by both thesis quality and coursework
results.
