Summary of graduate studies

Master of Business Systems by research (coursework and thesis)

Clayton campus

The Master of Business Systems by research (coursework and thesis) is offered by the Department of Business Systems. Entry requires a degree, and candidates with a pass degree will normally enter the Graduate Diploma in Business Systems or a preliminary year (one year full-time or two years part-time). Candidates with a good, relevant honours degree or with a pass degree and diploma with appropriate content and attainment may enter the masters year (one year full-time, two years part-time). The masters year involves completion of coursework and a thesis, weighted at either 75 per cent or 87.5 per cent. The preliminary year is usually identical to the Graduate Diploma in Business Systems (see separate entry).

The research undertaken for the thesis reflects the current interests of the department. In addition to writing the thesis, the candidate will be required to present a research proposal and write and present a working paper of journal quality.
