Computer-supported information services
Second semester * Clayton
This subject will examine the provision of computer-supported information services in libraries in relation to the development of large-scale information systems, the `information industry' and the application of information technology. While international and global developments will be considered, the focus will be on services available in Australia. Visits will be made to appropriate sites to see the new technology and services. It is assumed that students enrolling for the subject have an understanding of the basics of library automation and of the principles of information storage and retrieval.
