This subject focuses on the role of the document in its societal context. It explores the relationship between communications, record, document, information and politics. Topics covered include the role of the record and document in society; the politics of information and the record; end users of documents - who they are, what they need; documenting society - how the record is made available, managed and by whom in the interests of groups in contemporary society; case studies examining documents and other forms of stored information.
