Input-output technology

4 points * 2 hours per week * Second semester * Caulfield * Prerequisites: COT1130, COT1140, SFT2121 or C programming * MAT 1711 and MAT2410 are recommended

This subject aims to provide students with an understanding of the technology for the automated input and output of data to computer applications. The syllabus includes the data entry process, errors and error rates, quality management, information theory, coding theory, hardware interfaces, data entry hardware, data presentation hardware, case studies of automated data input systems, implementing systems, the systems life cycle, work flow re-engineering, security and legal issues.

Assessment

Examination (2 hours): 50% * Practical work: 50%
