Project management for information systems

4 points * 3 hours per week * Second semester * Peninsula * Prerequisites: CFR1306 or equivalent * Prohibitions: BUS2170, BUS2174, BUS2176, GCO2813, GCO7832, SYS2170

Project planning: importance of project planning and control, problems in system development projects, planning aids such as CPM, PERT and Gantt charts, estimating - current techniques and problems. Project management: staffing project teams, working in teams, team dynamics. Project control: feedback of resources used, measuring progress, ways of rescheduling, reorganising to achieve project deadlines. Automated project management tools.

Assessment

Examination (2 hours): 50% * Practical work: 50%
