Advanced programming for database applications IV

This subject is designed for students who wish to extend their programming abilities in developing relatively large database software systems. A business software system of significant size will be developed in dBase. Topics to be covered include the dBase language and system parameters, structured program design, dBase procedures, screen layout and menu design, file maintenance, report design and reporting programs, order processing programs, stock control programs, system utilities programs, colour usage, program testing and debugging. It is expected that students will become experienced enough to develop business software systems of professional quality.
Assessment
Practical work: 30% * Examinations (2 hours): 70%
