The course
This part-time four-subject program is aimed at providing the specialised skills and expertise critical for successful decision-making within the Asian region. Designed for business people, economists, lawyers, bankers, financiers, accountants and managers connected directly or through clients to the Asian region, the course focuses on financial, legal, economic and social factors essential for operations within the Asian region. On successful completion, students will receive a Graduate Certificate of Business. The bracketed (specialisation in Asian business) will not be reflected on the testamur.
Objectives
The course objectives have both an academic and a vocational orientation and provide participants with:
* an overview of the Asian region's socio-economic environment with a focus on selected regional countries
* an understanding of the laws governing international trade and regional business operations
* an awareness of the economic, social and legal factors affecting Asian regional trade and finance
* practical negotiating skills sharpened by an understanding of cross-cultural Asian legal and socio-economic factors
* an appreciation of effective human resource management in the Asian region
* an understanding of Asian capital markets and their financial instruments
* a knowledge of the functions and characteristics of Asian regional financial markets and selected banking systems
* an ability to develop a business and financing strategy incorporating regional aims

Evening classes are offered at the Caulfield campus.

Course structure
The course can be taken on a one or two subject per semester basis. Completion of the course requires a pass in four subjects. Students must successfully complete MGM6070 Asian management, plus any three of the following:
* FIN6030 Asian economies
* FIN6040 Asian banking and finance
* FIN6050 Asian business law
* FIN6060 Asian taxation
