Plant management

Objectives On completion of this subject students should be able to identify the main factors in plant production systems and their impact on system performance; measure plant performance and evaluate this performance against expected norms; design plant production systems to meet commercial objectives.

Synopsis The location and scale of principal plant production enterprises in Australia, plant establishment practice, fertilisers, management of weeds, pests and diseases, plant breeding, selection of plant types and varieties, machinery management. Students will select three out of the following five modules to study in depth: crops, pasture, fruit, vegetables, vines.

Assessment Assignments (2000 words): 20% * Final examination (3 hours): 80%
