International manufacturing

Synopsis The main aims of this subject are to assist candidates to develop enhanced understanding and skills in the practical analysis and evaluation of business policy as it effects international manufacturing operations; develop an understanding of the impact the international environment plays on business practice; and to explore the leadership and managerial aspects of international business and manufacturing operations. This subject will involve detailed analysis of selected international studies drawn from various sources covering issues of strategy and best practices in manufacturing management. Students will be required to analyse the relevance of specific issues presented in the Australian context. A total of eight situations will be analysed over the semester. For each study, students will be required to prepare answers to specific issues and questions. An Australian perspective will be provided for each topic by an invited senior manufacturing executive from Australian industry.
