Human resource management strategy and planning

Objectives On completion of this subject students should be able to: understand how human resource management can be used as a strategic tool for gaining competitive advantage; develop a strategic human resource management system for an organisation; demonstrate how to implement strategic HRM procedures into organisations.

Synopsis Concept of strategic HRM; framework for strategic HRM; audit of HRM functions, competitive advantage through strategic HRM, productivity and quality improvement, strategic staffing, training and reward systems, strategic issues in labour relations.

Assessment Written group project (3000 words): 30% * Individual assignment (1000words): 20% * Class test (2 hours): 40% * Oral presentations: 10%
