Telecommunications and corporate management

Synopsis This subject focuses on the management of telecommunications as a corporate and strategic resource for increasing productivity, management effectiveness and competitive advantage. It provides coverage of the underlying change processes of information technology and the capability of modern telecommunications for information delivery, and for support of flexible organisation structures. It reviews the elements of telecommunication systems, the broadening management perceptions of the role and benefits of telecommunications in corporate enterprise and its relationship to information systems management. It surveys telecommunications needs and service options, and the development and implementation of a corporate telecommunications strategy. It examines the linkages between a company's use of advanced telecommunications services and its broader corporate strategy choices, and looks at key implementation issues arising from this interaction.
