Law and business decisions

Synopsis This subject involves an introduction to the legal system with special emphasis on the legal environment of business. It involves a study of selected topics selected from the tort of negligence, the law of contract and consumer transactions, manufacturers' obligations, insurance, cheques and banking agency, restrictive trade practices, intellectual property, international trade law, directors' duties, shareholders' rights, creditors' rights and insolvency. Through the study of legal and business aspects of these areas, students also gain experience in techniques for legal problem solving and research, so acquiring the ability to cope with future demand for knowledge of any laws.

Assessment Written (seminar paper and research paper of 2000 words each): 25% * Examination: 75%
