Objectives This core subject develops the theoretical foundations of economics and the generic skills essential for progression to upper level subjects by applying rigorous thinking and understanding to analytical geometric models. It fosters an appreciation of economics as an evolutionary science and its ability to address, in microeconomic and macroeconomic frameworks, the persistent social and economic problems confronted by society.
Synopsis Basic principles of orthodox microeconomics and macroeconomics; introduction to the historical development of the theory; the use of economic tools in problem solving.
