Public sector management

Objectives The two key objectives of the subject are to introduce students to the nature, scope and problems of public sector management in Australia and provide them with the understanding necessary to integrate and apply management principles in planning, operations, staffing and control in the public sector. In examining current issues and the changing role of management in the public sector, students will also develop the ability to critically appraise and recommend improvements to organisational practices.

Synopsis This subject covers the nature of public administration, its governmental framework, planning policy making, operations, staffing, control and contemporary issues in public sector management.

Assessment Assignments 1 (1500 words): 25% * Assignment 2 (1500 words): 25% * Assignment 3: (2500 words): 50%
