Objectives As the capstone of the Business Strategy stream, this subject seeks to integrate previous studies in strategic and policy-level decision making with other disciplinary studies, especially in the areas of management, finance, human resource management, marketing and economics, and to apply these in specific business contexts. Understanding of, and the ability to apply, strategy theories, processes and decisions will be facilitated by an approach involving analysis of contemporary national and international case studies.
Synopsis In this subject a strategic management framework introduces students to strategy concepts, strategy formulation, strategy implementation and the external environment of the organisation. This framework of strategic change is utilised to examine the relationship between corporate and business level strategies, and review the issues relating to strategic capability and strategy choice decisions in a global, integrated business environment. The implementation of strategy is discussed in the context of structure, culture and leadership factors.
