Advanced international banking

Objectives Students who have completed this subject will, at an advanced level, be able to understand the practical management problems of international banking; comprehend the development and availability of various financing techniques; analyse and explain current issues; understand the characteristics of international banking and its place in the overall financial system; demonstrate an understanding of the role of central banks in the control of international banking; understand the issues relating to the practical aspects of foreign exchange transactions and the management of risk.

Synopsis History of international banking; international financial system and its major players; regulations and interaction with public policy; world debt; foreign exchange markets; lending and investment criteria; the Australian international banking sector.

Assessment Assignment: 20% * Research project: 40% * Final examination (3 hours): 40%
